RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State (19-15, 7-8 ACC) continued its hot streak Tuesday evening with a definitive win over UNCG (21-11, 7-2 SoCon) at Doak Field, 10-1.
Redshirt senior right-handed pitcher Johnny Piedmonte (2-0, 1.86 ERA) dominated the Spartans, only allowing one hit in seven innings. The Davidson, N.C. native struck out four batters and only walked one while surrendering one unearned run en route to the Wolfpack’s third straight win.
Freshman right-hander Dalton Feeney and redshirt junior left-hander Cody Beckman finished the rest of the way with an inning of work each. The pair each gave up a run and struck out one Spartan batter to secure the victory.
Two of the Pack’s freshmen had pivotal performances against UNCG. Second baseman Will Wilson and designated hitter Brad Debo combined to go 8-for-10 at the plate. Wilson doubled twice with two RBI while Debo doubled once, scored once, and drove in two runs.

The Pack got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second thanks to Kinneman’s homer. Debo led off the inning with a single up the middle. Junior third baseman Evan Mendoza followed by drawing a walk. Two batters later, Kinneman blasted a 1-2 pitch over the wall in right-center for his sixth bomb of the season.
State added another run in the third inning. Junior first baseman Stephen Pitarra and Wilson led off with back-to-back singles before a double play by McLain moved Pitarra to third. Debo followed with infield single to drive Pitarra home.
Two more NC State runs came in the fourth inning. Junior catcher Andy Cosgrove led off with a walk followed by a bunt single by junior right fielder Brock Deatherage. After Pitarra moved the runners to second and third with a bunt, Wilson drove Cosgrove and Deatherage home with a single into left-center field.
Dunand led off the fifth inning with his 12th homer of the year. Kinneman followed with a walk and reached third on back-to-back groundouts. Pitarra plated Kinneman on a Spartan fielding error.
NC State’s scoring ended with insurance runs in the eighth. Deatherage led off the frame with a walk followed by a single by Pitarra. Two batters later, McLain reached base on a fielder’s choice in which Deatherage scored on another error by UNCG’s defense. Debo followed with an RBI double, plating McLain.
