NC State 1B Evan Edwards has been drafted by the Miami Marlins with the 111th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
After two years playing in Raleigh, NC State senior first baseman Evan Edwards has been picked up by the Miami Marlins in the 2019 MLB Draft at No. 111 overall.
Following two seasons at USC Lancaster, Edwards compiled a .315 batting average, a .586 slugging percentage, 29 home runs, 108 runs batted in, and 103 runs scored during his tenure as the Wolfpack first baseman.
With his selection, Edwards becomes the first State first baseman to be drafted since the Baltimore Orioles picked Preston Palmeiro in the seventh round of 2016’s MLB Draft. He also joins former Wolfpack shortstop Joe Dunand in the Marlins’ system after Dunand was selected in the second round in 2017. Edwards’ draft value is estimated around $522,600 according to MLB.com.
